HME Ahrens-Fox Adds Collision Prevention Solution

Safety Cloud® is a standard feature on all configurations of HME custom apparatus

Wyoming, MI (May 24, 2022) – HME Ahrens-Fox (HME or the Company), a privately owned manufacturer of custom-built fire apparatus, has added HAAS Alert’s Safety Cloud® as a standard feature on all configurations of its custom apparatus. The preinstalled solution will include three years of Safety Cloud prepaid service to dovetail with the Company’s three-year apparatus warranty.

Safety Cloud® helps to protect firefighters by offering real-time Responder-to-Vehicle (R2V™) and Responder-to-Responder (R2R™) safety services.

• R2V automatically deliver digital alerts to nearby drivers when a fire crew is responding to the scene and while on the fireground
• R2R automatically alerts Fire Engineers (Drivers) with a visual in-cab notification when another responding emergency vehicle is a potential collision risk
HME apparatus equipped with Safety Cloud offer enhanced safety. The Safety Cloud solution improves motorist awareness by allowing more time for drivers to make safe maneuvers and comply with Move Over laws.

“In 2021, nearly 5,000 firefighters sustained injury during non-fireground operations – those responding to, or returning from, incidents. And the number was even greater including struck-by collisions,” said Bill Doebler, Vice President, Sales at HME Ahrens-Fox. “Safety Cloud will add an additional level of protection, particularly given their growth in both navigation applications on handheld devices and passenger vehicle infotainment displays.”

HAAS Alert CEO Cory Hohs commented, “HME Ahrens-Fox has more than a century of experience fulfilling the needs of firefighters, which is a true testament to their commitment to quality and safety. We’re thrilled to be in partnership with HME, and we look forward to working to help firefighters get home safely.”
